Life Onboard HMS Victory
Welcome to the 'Life onboard HMS Victory' website. On Friday 21st October 2005 it was exactly 200 years ago to the day that Admiral Lord Nelson commanded the British navy into battle against the combined French and Spanish fleets at Trafalgar. Although the battle was a decisive victory, Horatio Nelson lost his life and a nation mourned.
This site provides an historical insight into life in the past, and celebrates the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. It supports both the Primary and KS3 Strategies through the exploration of HMS Victory, Admiral Lord Nelson, his life and times. There are dedicated pupil areas with fact-filled, interactive content for use in the classroom (or at home) as well as a comprehensive teacher area containing support notes, lesson plans, and worksheets.
